         About Me

Aria Nicole was first introduced to poetry when her 6th grade English teacher insisted that she memorize Langston Hughes' "Mother to Son" for a class assignment. For her, it was love at first read! She was then introduced to the works of Maya Angelou, Countee Cullin and Gwendolyn Brooks. Then, through her own studies, discovered Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez and other Black Revolutionary Poets.

Nicole made her own literary debut in 2005 with the release of “The Evolution Beyond Words & Poetry.”   She has sold books throughout the US, Canada and parts of Europe.

Inspired by Angelina Jolie's work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nicole started a nonprofit organization named W.O.R.T.H. "Women's Organization of Rebirth Through Healing" was founded in 2006 to aid women and girls who were survivors of sexual violence due to armed conflicts in the Congo. Although no longer in operation, Nicole raised money and awareness through several benefits in New York City and Atlanta.

Nicole's highly anticipated second book of poetry, "FREEDOM is My Movement" was released in 2011. A collection of poetry full of love, an appreciation for the simple things in life, as well as some straight up, in your face, telling it like it is “Real Talk” that her devoted readers have come to expect from her.

Nicole has had articles published in For Harriet and Naptural Roots Magazine. She has also been the featured poet at several local open mics including Poetic Moments on V103 and Femme Fatale.

Aria Nicole is a Native of Atlanta, GA where she still resides.
